Stena Line signs up as the first ferry partner with the b2bgaming concept

Published 2007-05-02

The PAF Group today announced that the prominent European ferry operator Stena Line has signed up as the first ferry partner with the b2bGaming concept. Through the co-operation with PAF Stena Line’s customers will be offered entertaining gaming experiences on the Internet. The service will be launched during May 2007.

“It is an honour for us to present Stena Line, one of Europe’s largest ferry operators, as our next partner with the b2bGaming concept. Following up on the Flybe launch in February, Stena Line is our first partner in the ferry industry, and also the first ferry operator worldwide to offer e-gaming on their website. We are confident that together with Stena Line, we have created a new successful way of entertaining their passengers and keep them coming back onboard over and over again”, says Thomas Lundberg, Head of Business to Business at PAF.

"Our strategy is to constantly develop our business using new products and services that give our customers added value and increase our income. Gaming onboard our ferries is appreciated by our guests and in parallel we know that on-line gaming is increasing in popularity. The Internet Casino has a clear connection with our onboard gaming activities and our guests can now enjoy entertainment that goes beyond the confines of the vessel," says Stena Line's CEO, Gunnar Blomdahl.

The b2bGaming concept, which was introduced to the market in April 2006, is a fully managed e-gaming service offered by the PAF Group. The concept allows Stena Line’s customers to enjoy real digital entertainment experiences without operating the gaming service by themselves.

The concept offers a partnership in which the PAF Group will provide a turnkey solution consisting of a gaming licence (governed by an EU jurisdiction), a "white label" Internet site and digital money games along with a complete and fully integrated back-office. The b2bGaming partnership makes it possible to enter this profitable market quickly, efficiently and at a very low cost.

This type of service has already started to be established within the airline and travel- and tour operator industries, and now the ferry industry is ready to join in, with Stena Line taking the lead.

As a well recognised brand, Stena Line will focus on promoting the gaming service through its own distribution channels to its existing and future customers, along with the main marketing activities onboard its vessels. The day-to-day operations will be run by the PAF Group.

“One important factor for partners when choosing to include the PAF Group’s b2bGaming concept is, not only the direct entertainment and customer retention opportunity by adding sticky content to its website, but also the opportunity to earn ancillary revenues which until now has been more associated with the airline industry. The e-gaming service can also to a large extent be used in cross-selling activities as a marketing tool as well as a tool in building and increasing customer loyalty. Therefore, our partners will not become an e-gaming operator themselves as we take care of that aspect, but they simply use this in order to increase customer entertainment and core business promotion “, Thomas Lundberg continues.
