Launch of new ancillary revenue booster for airlines

Published 2008-11-10

The Paf Group is launching a new multi-dimensional scratch card concept for the airline industry. The concept is unique and has a strong connection to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

The new scratch card concept developed by the Paf Group is called Scratchorama. It will enable the airline industry to take their scratch cards and in-flight ancillary revenue opportunities to the next level.

Scratchorama differentiates itself from ordinary scratch card products that only generate ancillary revenues from direct sale, while the passenger is still onboard. Scratchorama has acknowledged this phenomenon and presents a savvier multi-dimensional scratch card concept. Long after the passenger has disembarked, the opportunity for ancillary revenue continues in online media.

Scratch cards & online gaming is a constellation that has proven to be very powerful. The driving force behind the concept is to create entertainment for the flight passengers, generate ancillary revenue for the airlines and to raise money for charity the whole year around.

The concept has been tested by Stena Line, Europe’s largest ferry operator, for one year and has turned out to be a success case;

The Scratch Card concept has enables us to increase our ancillary revenue, not just from onboard sales, but also post travel from online media. It’s easy managed, entertaining for our passengers and have had a great effect on the bottom line ancillary revenue. With this concept we have unleashed yet another strong ancillary revenue stream, which we haven’t had before, despite having sold scratch cards onboard for several years” says Martin Schütz, Area Manager Gaming, Stena Line.

Paf is a Nordic gaming operator with over 40 year of gaming experience, founded by different charity organisations and still today driven by a charity mission. Last year (2007) Paf donated 18 million euro different social, cultural and sports organisations which makes Paf unique in gaming industry.

Paf’s history is clearly reflected in the Scratchorama concept which has a strong connection to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

The concept consists of a strong CSR aspect. Our upcoming airline partners need to donate a certain amount or % of the scratch card sales profit to a charity chosen by them selves. It could for example be social and environmental projects or other CSR related efforts. The chosen charity will be clearly stated on the scratch cards as well as in all marketing material”, says Anders Wiklund, Head of Business to Business, Paf Group.

Scratchorama will be officially launched at the Ancillary Revenue Airline Conference (ARAC) in Budapest the 19th of November, where Paf is invited as a guest speaker to present new ancillary revenue trends within the airline industry.
